Our Heartfelt Journey

Autumn's Light is a nonprofit organization based in Fort Worth, Texas, serving the DFW metropolitan area by providing mentoring, life skills development, emotional wellness support, healthy relationship education, academic and career guidance, and practical assistance such as clothing and hygiene essentials to young women aged 10 to 24. Formed in 2024, our foundation began with a purpose born from profound loss. Following the tragic passing of Autumn, who was taken too soon by a drunk driver, her mother and our founder channeled her grief into action - dedicating each day to honoring Autumn's legacy by empowering other young women facing challenges, isolation, or uncertainty.

Our journey is rooted in the unwavering belief that every young woman deserves encouragement, guidance, and tangible resources to navigate life's difficulties and thrive. We offer trauma-informed programming because we recognize that true support must acknowledge each individual's lived experiences while building up their strengths. Through both one-on-one and group mentoring, we foster skills in communication, confidence, and emotional wellness, while our Caring Closet stands as a practical symbol of dignity, ensuring that basic needs never become barriers to self-worth.

Inspired by an authentic story of love and resilience, our foundation welcomes all who seek hope or a way to give back. We invite you to join us - whether as a participant, volunteer, or supporter - to help young women in our community shine brightly and move toward new beginnings.

April Jones

Founder, Director

My journey to create Autumn's Light started with the deepest loss a parent can experience—the sudden passing of my daughter, Autumn, due to a tragic accident in May 2024. In the wake of this grief, I searched for a way to honor her legacy and decided to build something that would reflect the love, kindness, and hope she brought into the world.

Every program we offer is shaped by my commitment to support young women, just as I wished someone would have supported Autumn and her peers. My background in trauma-informed care and a lifelong passion for supporting youth drive my vision: to ensure no girl feels invisible or alone during her most critical years. This work is about igniting resilience, sharing warmth, and helping young women discover their worth. Through Autumn's Light, I hope to create a community where healing, growth, and new beginnings are possible—keeping Autumn's Light burning bright in every life we touch.
